The US Masters Golf Complete Day by Day Schedule

Day-1 April, 8 2024

The first day of The Masters Golf is dedicated to a practice session where the pros will practice and sharpen their skills to perform at par in the main event.

The professionals will be practicing for two hours from 12:00-14:00, On The Range and finally will try their level best to outperform others and win the event at the end of the day.

Why Professionals Practice On The Range at Augusta Golf Course for The Masters

Practicing the range in golf is a crucial aspect of improving one’s skills and performance on the course. The range, also known as the driving range or practice range, is a designated area at a golf facility where golfers can hit golf balls into a field or onto targets to work on various aspects of their game.

The significance of practicing on the range in golf includes:

  1. Golfers can focus on refining their swing mechanics and technique without the pressure of the golf course. This allows them to make adjustments and improvements to their swing, such as grip, stance, posture, and alignment.
  2. Golfers can practice hitting different clubs, including drivers, irons, wedges, and putters, to become more proficient with each club. This helps them make better club selections during actual rounds of golf based on the distance and shot requirements.
  3. The range provides a controlled environment for golfers to work on distance control and accuracy. They can practice hitting specific yardage targets to improve their ability to place shots where they want on the golf course.
  4. Golfers can experiment with different shot shapes, such as draws and fades, on the range to become more versatile and adaptable when facing different on-course situations.
  5. Before a round of golf, many players use the range to warm up and prepare physically and mentally for the round. This helps improve focus and can lead to better performance on the course.
  6. Repeatedly hitting good shots on the range can boost a golfer’s confidence, which can translate to better play on the golf course. Confidence in one’s swing is a valuable asset in golf.
  7. Golfers can work on specialty shots such as chip shots, bunker shots, and pitch shots in a controlled setting to become more skilled at executing these shots during rounds.
  8. Practicing on the range allows golfers to establish a consistent pre-shot routine and build muscle memory. This routine can help reduce anxiety and increase consistency during actual rounds.
  9. The range provides a structured practice environment where golfers can efficiently use their time to work on specific skills and drills.
  10. Golfers can monitor their progress by keeping records of their range sessions, including the number of balls hit, accuracy, and distance achieved. This helps set goals and measure improvement over time.

Practicing on the range in golf is essential for honing skills, building confidence, and preparing for competitive play. It serves as a laboratory for golfers to work on various aspects of their game, ultimately leading to better performance on the golf course.

Day-2 April, 9 2024

Just like the Day-1, the Golf Professionals will be On The Range on day two for sheer practicing from 09:00-11:00.

Day-3 April, 10 2024

The third day at the Augusta Golf Course will feature 2 events where the professionals will practice on the Range and then the most Awaited Par 3 Contest. The On the Range event will be between 9:00AM – 11:00AM EDT whereas the Par 3 Contest will be played in between 12:00PM – 17:00PM.

Par-3 Contest, What it is and What it Offers More

Wednesday afternoon is the Par 3 contest, which is played on a separate 9-hole / par-27 course on the northeast corner of Augusta National. The par 3 course was built in 1958. It is a nine-hole course, with a par of 27, and measures 1,060 yards (970 m) in length.

It is a lighthearted and festive competition in which golfers, including participants in The Masters tournament and past champions, play a special nine-hole par-3 course located on the Augusta National grounds. Here’s the significance of the Par 3 Contest at The Masters:

  1. The Par 3 Contest is a cherished tradition at The Masters and adds an element of fun and camaraderie to the tournament week. It’s a departure from the intense competition that takes place during the main tournament rounds and allows players to relax and enjoy the game with family and friends.
  2. Unlike the main tournament, which has strict qualification criteria, the Par 3 Contest is open to past champions, participants in The Masters, and honorary invitees. This inclusivity allows golf legends and rising stars to come together, creating memorable moments for both players and spectators.
  3. The par-3 course at Augusta National is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and pristine conditions. It offers picturesque views of the golf course, azalea-filled landscapes, and the iconic Hogan Bridge, which players and caddies cross as they make their way to the ninth green.
  4. The Par 3 Contest provides fans with a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite golfers. Spectators can walk the course, watch players up close, and even interact with them, as the atmosphere is more relaxed and fan-friendly.
  5. Many golfers invite their families, including children and grandchildren, to caddy for them during the Par 3 Contest. This adds a family-oriented and heartwarming dimension to the event, showcasing the personal and human side of professional golfers.
  6. Golfers often try to set records during the Par 3 Contest, such as achieving the lowest score or making a hole-in-one. While winning the Par 3 Contest is not necessarily a predictor of success in the main tournament, it is still considered an honor.
  7. Some golfers view winning the Par 3 Contest as an omen that may bring bad luck in the main tournament, given the superstition that no player has ever won both events in the same year. This superstition adds an element of intrigue to the contest.
